A little vignette from his Wikipedia page:
On the other side, the top section portrays Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd and as a fisherman with the Gospel. The middle section portrays a classical symbol of Our Lady of the Pillar, the patroness of his previous diocese. The symbol consists of an Ionic column, surmounted by an ornate "M" as a symbol for the Virgin Mary, with a crown of twelve stars. The bottom depicts a carpenter's rule, which signifies Saint Joseph the Worker, along with a Lily flower, all in reference to the seminary which he once attended, the Jesuit-run San Jose Seminary at the Ateneo de Manila University.
